The twelve paintings in this show are a culmination of my love of Carson McCuller’s writings, and my observations of the hops that our growing in our
home garden.
The abstract paintings focus on color theory and pigment chemistry, since I make many of my own paints. The hops paintings focus on chiaroscuro
(a relationship of dramatic values) rather than the relationship of the hue. The exception is the painting
of the floating hop, which is a nod to surrealist painter Rene Magritte. |
